How To Wear Your
Baby Safely

We understand that using a ring sling can feel overwhelming at first. It takes a little bit of practice, but it is so worth it and you will notice that it gets easier each time you wear your sling. If you read and follow our instructions and give it some practice, you will safely carry your little one in your ring sling before you know it. We recommend practising when you and your child are relaxed and in a good mood. Please note, only use the sling with children weighing between 8lbs and 35lbs.

T.I.C.K.S Rule for
Safe Baby Wearing

Tight

The sling should be tight enough to hold your baby close to you as this will be most comfortable for you both. Any slack/loose fabric will allow your baby to slump down in the carrier which can hinder their breathing and pull on your back.

In View At All Times

You should always be able to see your baby’s face by simply glancing down. The fabric of the sling should never cover your baby’s face. Your baby’s face should not be turned in towards your body. Ensure that the airways of your baby are clear at all times so that your baby can breathe.

Close Enough To Kiss

Your baby’s head should be as close to your chin as is comfortable. By tipping your head forward you should be able to kiss your baby on the head or forehead.

Keep Chin Off The Chest

A baby should never be carried so their chin is forced onto their chest as this can restrict their breathing. Ensure there is always a space of at least a finger width under your baby’s chin. Ensure that the airways of your baby are clear at all times so that your baby can breathe.

Supported Back

A baby should be held comfortably close to the wearer so their back is supported in its natural position and their tummy and chest are against you. If a sling is too loose they can slump which can close their airways.

Important

Please, always exercise caution when using your sling. Only use the sling with children weighing between 8lbs and 35lbs. Before using your sling, carefully read and follow the instructions in our manual and watch our video tutorials. You can find the warning label inside the pocket on your sling.

Make sure that you wear your ring sling correctly and ensure that your child is safe at all times. Never wear your baby reclined, facing out, or on your back in the sling. Failure to follow instructions can result in death or serious injury. The safety of your child is your responsibility and the use of Aellana’s ring sling is at your own risk. We are not responsible for any injuries or issues our ring sling may cause.
